Who wrote this guide
This guide was written by Lucas and Jan, who have lived in dozens of countries and learned dozens of languages between them. They documented years of it on their YouTube channel Language Boost, which is still online today. Lucas is one of the most experienced polyglots in the world, speaking over 20 languages, 10 of them at a strong intermediate level or above.
For decades we have sought out and studied the best polyglots alive, and become some of them ourselves. The philosophy in this guide is the result of that: lessons from the world's best language learners combined with our own experience. We are glad to share exactly how we think you can best learn a language.

Is Teacher AI right for a complete beginner?
For French, yes. The
Beginner course takes you from zero, and you speak out loud from the first lesson. It is French only for now, and more languages are coming soon. For every other language, speaking practice works best once you have some basics (around A2). See

What is the difference between Teacher AI and ChatGPT?
Teacher AI runs on the same kind of large language models, but it is built specifically for language learners. You practice with AI versions of popular YouTube language teachers, get topics and prompts sorted by level, and track your vocabulary, fluency, and streaks. You can tap any word for a translation and hear it spoken, words save automatically to your flashcards, you can compete on the weekly and monthly leaderboards, and you get soft corrections that do not interrupt the conversation. At the end of a conversation it writes you a feedback report and builds practice drills out of your own mistakes. Your teachers are bilingual, so you can switch to your own language any time. In short, we have added all the features that make learning a language easier, the ones that raw LLMs like ChatGPT do not have. We store your progress, and we make learning fun and easy. On top of that, it is cheaper than most LLM subscriptions.
How much can I use it?
On a paid plan, as much as you like. Speaking practice is unlimited. Most learners do 10 to 20 minutes a day, and power users do 1 to 2 hours.
Is there a free plan?
Yes, no card needed. In the French Beginner course your first three lessons are free, then one new lesson opens every day. In speaking practice you get one free conversation of seven messages to try it. A paid plan unlocks unlimited conversations, hands-free calls and every lesson at your own pace, and it starts with a free trial.
Which languages can I learn?
One subscription unlocks every language we currently offer (60+), and you automatically get every new one we add. We add languages regularly, whenever our models support them. The newest are Hebrew, written right to left with the pronunciation shown above every word, and Thai, with spaces between words and pronunciation in Paiboon+ or IPA to make reading easier.
