Who wrote this guide
This guide was written by Lucas and Jan, who have lived in dozens of countries and learned dozens of languages between them. They documented years of it on their YouTube channel Language Boost, which is still online today. Lucas is one of the most experienced polyglots in the world, speaking over 20 languages, 10 of them at a strong intermediate level or above.
For decades we have sought out and studied the best polyglots alive, and become some of them ourselves. Is Teacher AI right for a complete beginner?
Teacher AI is built for intermediate learners (A2 and up). It is a speaking-practice tool, not a structured course, so it is not the best fit if you are a complete beginner.
What is the difference between Teacher AI and ChatGPT?
Teacher AI runs on the same kind of large language models, but it is built specifically for language learners. You practice with AI versions of popular YouTube language teachers, get topics and prompts sorted by level, and track your vocabulary, fluency, and streaks. You can tap any word for a translation and hear it spoken, words save automatically to your flashcards, you can compete on the monthly leaderboard, and you get soft corrections that do not interrupt the conversation. Your teachers are bilingual, so you can switch to your own language any time. In short, we have added all the features that make learning a language easier, the ones that raw LLMs like ChatGPT do not have. We store your progress, and we make learning fun and easy. On top of that, it is cheaper than most LLM subscriptions.
How much can I use it?
As much as you like. Speaking practice is unlimited. Most learners do 10 to 20 minutes a day, and power users do 1 to 2 hours.
